Some Herbal Supplements Are Worthless
Subscribe To Our FeedIf you are interested in using herbal supplements as vitamins to boost your nutrition, improve your overall health, or as a specific medicinal remedy, it’s important that you know how to choose quality supplements that will actually work well.
Using herbs as vitamins, and even using herbal remedies as an alternative form of medicine is quickly becoming popular in mainstream society. This is probably due to the fact that herbs are much less expensive than prescription medications are, and they work just as well if not better in some cases for many common health conditions. Unfortunately, this trend has also brought about many supplements and herbal products which are not worth looking twice at.
The problem is that many of these over-the-counter medications and supplements are not true herbs. In fact, some of the most popular so-called natural remedies which can be bought in the pharmacy area of most stores barely contain any herb at all. You’ve probably seen cough drops for example, would say they “contain” a popular herb which is often used as a cough remedy. When medications say they contain something, that usually means there’s only a little bit of that substance in the overall makeup. And this is where many problems can come in were herbal remedies are concerned.
Most people have learned over the last 10 years or so that they can not get the same type or amount of vitamins and nutrition from vitamin pills as they can from eating fresh fruits and vegetables. Those same concepts apply when it comes to herbs, and herbal supplements as well. Herbal supplements are just dried plants. Good herbal supplements are at least. Small amounts of good herbs, and low quality bits and pieces of herbs will usually do nothing much to help you at all.
To get the best results from an herbal supplement, you need to buy the best you can find. And the best types of herbal supplements are 100% herbs. In other words, the only thing inside the capsule should be dried plant material. Herbs are just plants, and herbal supplements are the dried herb plants themselves. Organic herbal supplements are preferred to ensure there are no harmful chemicals or pesticides are being consumed.
A hard pill type supplement usually has many additives in in which help hold that pill together in shape, and that hard substance is not readily or easily absorbed by your body. An organic herbal supplement is just chopped or crushed or powdered pure herb inside of a clear gel capsule though, so it’s in a purely natural form which your body can readily use. You can actually pull the capsule apart and sprinkle out the herb if needed. This is useful for making topical ointment and salves.
If you take an over-the-counter medication which says it contains a specific herb, or you take a hard pill form of an herbal supplement which has lots of additives in it, you will probably notice it does not seem to work very well at all. By making the simple change of buying 100% herbal supplements, you will quickly notice a dramatic difference in how good you feel, as well as how well that herbal supplement works.
