Yoga unites the “Prakriti” or the nature with the “Purusha” or pure consciousness. By practicing yoga, the Yogis had been able to control nature, individual and cosmic and lead a long blissful life, free from diseases and sorrow, ever ready to help humankind. However, when we talk about yoga, we mean one of its branches, known as Hath yoga only. Hath Yoga tries to purify the body in order to purify the mind (Ha) and the Prana (Tha) or the cosmic energy that runs through our body and keeps us functioning.

They say, ‘an apple a day, keeps the doctor away’. How far that is true is a matter of debate, but if you really want to keep the doctors away, practice yoga regularly and diligently. Go online and read as much as you can about yoga and its practices and once you have a clear concept of what yoga is, look for yoga videos. Some of them may be trash, but some are excellent. Then again, some of them can be downloaded free of charge, while some needs to be paid for. Some of the paid videos are much too expensive, while others are quite affordable. However, since you are not going to buy one every day, the price should not really matter. Try getting one that is the best. It helps if someone you know have has used those videos.

Now, how do you know that the video you are eyeing is a good one? It helps if you have some slight knowledge about asana and yoga. Therefore, read about the subject first. Next, you should get yourself a video on yoga for the beginners. You can buy them online or even from the market. Try ‘The Health and Wellness’ section of your neighborhood supermarket, or search the internet for them.

As I have already said, start with the basic techniques. Yoga videos too can be classified as basic or beginners’, intermediate and advanced. You will also find separate DVD for kids or even for pregnant women. Before starting with yoga, watch the video first, not once, but repeatedly. Once you have a clear idea about it, plan your regime.

· Yoga is not a magic. If you want results, make a firm resolve that you are going to practice regularly.

· Practicing yoga at home becomes monotonous after few days. Try to persuade your friends to join in, so that you can motivate each other.

· Try to schedule your regime in the morning, because there is less pollution in the air then. If you cannot, schedule it for the evening and stick to it.

· Wear loose fitting dresses that allow the body to ventilate.

The effect of yoga is maximum when you perform the exercises in the morning. During the mornings, the air is fresh and the oxygen content of the air is also higher. You will also have to ensure that you wear comfortable and loose clothes when you are practicing yoga. If you are not comfortable with the yoga videos and you want a personal touch for the yoga training, you can always visit a yoga fitness club or classes. In the yoga fitness clubs, you will get personalized training and you will be able to do the yoga exercises correctly.

You will have to search the Internet for the closest yoga fitness hub or club. When the yoga club is close to your house, you will spend least time in travelling. Also, when the yoga hub is close to your house, you will save on the traveling cost. There are some people who would like to select a yoga club very close to their office or work place. As long as you are working out on a regular basis, the location of the yoga center does not matter at all.
